Music

At Langley, we believe music plays an integral role in helping children to feel part of a community. Therefore, we provide opportunities for all children to create, play, perform and enjoy music both in class and to an audience.

All children in Year 3 are given the opportunity to learn the ukulele throughout the year.

Children in Years 4 - 6 are offered the opportunity of learning a musical instrument either individually or as part of a small group. These lessons are provided free of charge to ensure we are as inclusive as possible. Currently, lessons are available for violin, cello, flute and brass. As children progress, we encourage them to join one of the Sandwell orchestras and bands.

Musical evenings take place twice a year and are opportunities for children who learn an instrument or who sing in the choir to perform for parents.

Each year, children in Years 4 - 6 are given the opportunity to attend the Young Voices concert in Birmingham. Over the last few years, they have also had the opportunity to sing at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham Town Hall and at events organised by BUDS the dementia charity we work alongside.
