Let's get arty today!
I've been looking at the artist Denis Wojtkiewicz. He produces some very detailed work using slices of fruit. Today you could try to do the same - slice up an apple or an orange or something a bit more exotic if you have it and spend some time looking really closely at it. Think about what shapes and colours you can see. See if you can carefully draw what you see. Here's a picture of the artist and some examples of his work. Don't forget to send me some pictures!
This week is a very fruity one!
To help your child's understanding of the different types of fruit, watch this video and discuss where fruit comes from and how it grows.

Can you make a super veggie? Please look at the example below. As your child makes their super veggie encourage them to talk about how many eyes/arms/feet they are going to put on their veggie? What would it’s superpower be? I would love to hear all about it!

Share Come Outside carrots. Discuss with your child about how vegetables grow - some underground and others on top. Could they draw a picture of some of the vegetables you talk about. I would love to see a photo!
Wednesday 13th January
Wednesday is our PE day in Nursery! If you scroll down the page you will find our Tumble Tots songs we like to dance to and I've added a few more dances for you to try. Remember, if you would rather, you could go outside for a walk, kick a ball in the garden or ask a grown up if you can feed the ducks. Let's get active!
Tuesday 12th January
Let's get creative! If you have some vegetables in your cupboard, ask a grown-up to help you cut them in half. Did you know that you can use vegetables for printing? I wonder what shapes you can make with each vegetable? Can you make a picture? (if you don't have paint in your house, try colouring on the cut vegetable with pen then making a print).
Remember to send us your finished pictures!
Monday 11th January
How many of the vegetables can you name in the story of 'Olivers Vegetables'?
What are your favourite vegetables? I wonder if you can draw a picture and send it to me?
Watch the video below to find out a little bit more about vegetables.

Tasting Fruit
In Nursery today were going to take part in a smell and taste investigation. We were going to smell some fruits with our eyes closed. You could always use a scarf as a blindfold. These are the fruits we were going to use (apple, banana, lemon, orange). It would be lovely if you could try this at home (if you don’t have these fruit don’t worry you can use any fruit/food you have available). Could your child recognise any of the fruits from how they smell? Then let your child try each fruit one at a time- could they recognise them from how they taste. I hope you have fun!!
Wednesday 6th January

Our new topic this term is 'Food Glorious Food!'
Take a look in your kitchen cupboards at all the different foods. You could sort them into your favourites and take a picture!
