  • School Trips and residential Stays

Fri 27 Mar 2020 Dr James
    Dear Parents and Carers
Residential Visits & Year 5 Safari Park Trip
As you are aware we have a Year 5 trip arranged to the Safari Park in April and two residential visits booked for this year. Frank Chapman for Year 4 from 27 th April - 1 st May and Edgmond Hall for Year 2 from 6 th – 8 th July.
With the current situation we are not sure whether these visits will be able to take place. We realise that many of you have paid in full for these trips or at least paid a deposit towards them.
We would like to reassure you that in the event of these visits being cancelled that your money will be refunded in full. This will not be able to happen, however, until the visits are officially cancelled by the Centres. It may then take a week or two for any refund to be processed.
We thank you for your understanding and will contact you as soon as we have any more information.
    Yours Sincerely,
    A James
    Dr James
  • Friday is joke day!

Thu 26 Mar 2020 Dr James

    Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you are well. I wanted to say thank you for being so considerate in using the school opening for a limited number of pupils so helpfully. I know in some parts of the country families have been less helpful and Heads have had to have some difficult talks!

Thank you also for making such good use of our website. About half the school are going on every day and lots of children are using Rockstars and Spelling Shed. The teachers will update the website at least two times a week.

Finally Friday is send a joke day for the children. Get them to log on to the website and send an email to their teacher with their best joke. Each joke will get a reply from the teacher!

  • Easter Holiday opening

Wed 25 Mar 2020 Dr James

    Dear Parents and carers

Please find below a letter about opening over the Easter Holiday. Please only use this service if you have no other way to provide childcare for your child.

    Dr James

    25th, March, 2020.

    Easter Holiday opening

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, can I thank all the parents and carers for reducing using the school attendance to an absolute minimum to meet your needs. This has allowed me to send staff here home and make sure not too many staff need to be off at any one time. This will help keep the school open.

After talking to staff there is a willingness to keep school open over the Easter holiday – except for the Good Friday to Easter Monday long weekend. This is not a requirement of staff that I can insist on so staff are doing this on a voluntary basis.

School will be open only for key worker children who cannot make other arrangements. Children with EHCPs would normally be at home during holidays and I think it is only fair to ask families to keep to this.

If you require school to be open during the Easter Holiday please could you email me over the next few days to let me know your requirements. If I don’t hear from you I will presume you do not need to use the service. In this way I can plan staffing if it is required.

My best wishes to yourselves and your families.

    Yours sincerely,

    Dr James

Fri 20 Mar 2020 Dr James

    Dear Parents and Carers

Here is a further update on our arrangements.

    School opening on Monday

For Key Worker and vulnerable pupils school will be open as normal on Monday. This includes Breakfast Club and Afterschool Club where it is normally used. Staff will be here to welcome you and make sure the children settle. I will provide details of how we will be arranging the weeks on Monday.

    Free School Meals

Where you are entitled to a free school meal this will be provided by the school kitchen. It will be In the form of a take away meal similar to the one provided if your child were to go on a school trip. This can be collected from 11am to 1pm from the school. To begin with please go to the school office unless directed to another place. On Monday I will give you further information.

Once the national food voucher scheme has been announced I will look at that and try to give you that scheme as an option.

    Best wishes

  • key worker information

Fri 20 Mar 2020 Dr James

Key Workers and vulnerable Children – children who may be able to come to school on Monday

The government has now given us a list of key workers. At least one parent or carer within the family will need to be a keyworker. There are still things we don’t know.  To help you we ask you to read the list and contact us if you fit in the list. We will ask you if one of all parents/carers fit in the list and will let you know which as soon as we know. You will need to show us some proof that you are a key worker (identity badge/ wage slip etc.) This may be difficult but we need to sort out who we can take to make sure we have enough staff.

Vulnerable children – we will contact you if we think your child is in this group.

    Key Workers

Health and social care – you work in the NHS, work in social care (care worker),volunteer carer, help make or sell medicines or protective equipment such as masks or respirators.

Education and childcare – you work in a school or day nursery, are an educational specialist or a social worker, you are a registered childminder.

Key public service – you work in the courts, prisons or are a probation officer, you are religious staff member (such as a priest), you are a journalist, you work in a place such as a foodbank, you work for a funeral home or a crematorium.

Local and national government – you work in a job centre, are responsible for the arrangement of benefits.

Food and other necessary goods – you work in food production and the sale of food, delivery workers of essential items.

Public safety and national security – you work for the police, armed services, fire service, border agency, police, probation services.

Utilities, communication and financial services – you work in places such as banks, power and water supplies, telecommunications and call centers, waste disposal including rubbish.

This is a very long list and may become clearer as the day goes on. We will try to help as much as we can but please be patient with us and remember we are people too.

You can let us know by coming into the office, seeing the Head or Deputy Head, ringing in on 0121 552 1744 or using my email tony.james@langleyprimary.com

  • School Closure from end of Friday

Thu 19 Mar 2020 Dr James

    18th, March, 2020.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to you following the announcement yesterday that all schools will be closed for almost all pupils from tomorrow, 20th March. We have no indication of when schools may re-open but we intend this to be as early as the Government say we can.

School will be open to a small number of children, but we are awaiting a list from the Government to let us know which groups of children these are. There will be 2 groups – children seen as being vulnerable (for example, children with EHCPs and those with an allocated social worker) and the children of key workers. As soon as we have this list we will contact you again to work out which children fit in these groups. It will most likely be a small group of children and you will need to prove that you are a keyworker to qualify.

We want to help you to continue your child’s learning whilst they are away from school. To provide this teachers have put work onto the Class Pages part of the school website, www.langleyprimary.com . To access this you go to Children ….. Class Pages and then select your child’s year group. The work will be added to and changed at least twice a week. In addition the online learning games of TimesTable Rockstars and Spelling Shed are freely available.

In the Parents section there is advice on how to support your child.

When a piece of work is completed it can be sent to your teacher using the correct email below.

Teachers will regularly check this email. If your child wishes to email their teacher to ask for help or advice they can do so using this email too. Please allow until the next day for the teacher to answer. My email at the top of this letter is available for general queries. Please remember that the teachers too have the same difficult times you have and many have young children.

I hope this helps and that we can help keep your children learning and doing well.

    Yours sincerely,

    Dr James

  • Coronavirus and self-isolation

Tue 17 Mar 2020 Dr James

    Dear parents and carers

I realise that this is a concerning time for families. As you will know school will be open for your children to attend and we will try to make it as normal as we can for your children. We will continue to ensure all the required hygiene needs are followed in school.

If you need to self -isolate please ring in as normal to let us know. We will take your name. From that point no child in your family should attend school for 14 days.

There is a lot of advice on the gov.uk website about how to manage whilst being at home.

    My best wishes

    Dr James
