Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear Children,
I hope you are all well. On Friday the country is celebrating the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. You may not believe this but my parents were children when VE Day happened and World War 2 ended in 1945. I know my parents and I can’t possibly be that old!
VE Day was a day of great joy and happiness. There were street parties and lots of singing and dancing because the war in Europe was ending. For my mum it was very special because her dad had been away at war for several years. She was just about to be born when he went away to be a soldier. When he came back she would meet him for the first time!
If you would like to find out more here are 2 links for you;

In these difficult times it is good to think about what makes you happy. To help with this I want to ask you draw a picture of what makes you happy and then either take a photo of it or scan it to me.
My email address is tony.james@langleyprimary.com It could be a person, a place, a happy memory or a favourite toy that helps you to be happy. If I get lots I’ll put them into a photostory for you all on the Class Pages section of the website.
Have fun and keep safe.

Are the children getting bored of the same old games? Struggling to get them to learn because they want to play games on their tablets, phones, games consoles or PCs? Then why not try one of the 100s of games on our website at www.langleyprimary.com. Just go to the website, click on the Children’s section and click on Kid’s Zone. There are loads of educational games that are fun to play and help the children to learn as well. Have fun!
Dear Parents and Carers
I hope you are well. I wanted to say thank you for being so considerate in using the school opening for a limited number of pupils so helpfully. I know in some parts of the country families have been less helpful and Heads have had to have some difficult talks!
Thank you also for making such good use of our website. About half the school are going on every day and lots of children are using Rockstars and Spelling Shed. The teachers will update the website at least two times a week.
Finally Friday is send a joke day for the children. Get them to log on to the website and send an email to their teacher with their best joke. Each joke will get a reply from the teacher!

Dear Parents and carers
Please find below a letter about opening over the Easter Holiday. Please only use this service if you have no other way to provide childcare for your child.
Dr James
25th, March, 2020.
Easter Holiday opening
Dear Parents and Carers,
Firstly, can I thank all the parents and carers for reducing using the school attendance to an absolute minimum to meet your needs. This has allowed me to send staff here home and make sure not too many staff need to be off at any one time. This will help keep the school open.
After talking to staff there is a willingness to keep school open over the Easter holiday – except for the Good Friday to Easter Monday long weekend. This is not a requirement of staff that I can insist on so staff are doing this on a voluntary basis.
School will be open only for key worker children who cannot make other arrangements. Children with EHCPs would normally be at home during holidays and I think it is only fair to ask families to keep to this.
If you require school to be open during the Easter Holiday please could you email me over the next few days to let me know your requirements. If I don’t hear from you I will presume you do not need to use the service. In this way I can plan staffing if it is required.
My best wishes to yourselves and your families.
Yours sincerely,
Dr James

On advice of the LA the school is open today for the vulnerable and keyworker children already arranged. If you can keep your child at home you should.
My best wishes for the coming weeks
Dear Parents and Carers
Here is a further update on our arrangements.
School opening on Monday
For Key Worker and vulnerable pupils school will be open as normal on Monday. This includes Breakfast Club and Afterschool Club where it is normally used. Staff will be here to welcome you and make sure the children settle. I will provide details of how we will be arranging the weeks on Monday.
Free School Meals
Where you are entitled to a free school meal this will be provided by the school kitchen. It will be In the form of a take away meal similar to the one provided if your child were to go on a school trip. This can be collected from 11am to 1pm from the school. To begin with please go to the school office unless directed to another place. On Monday I will give you further information.
Once the national food voucher scheme has been announced I will look at that and try to give you that scheme as an option.
Best wishes
Dr James
Key Workers and vulnerable Children – children who may be able to come to school on Monday
The government has now given us a list of key workers. At least one parent or carer within the family will need to be a keyworker. There are still things we don’t know. To help you we ask you to read the list and contact us if you fit in the list. We will ask you if one of all parents/carers fit in the list and will let you know which as soon as we know. You will need to show us some proof that you are a key worker (identity badge/ wage slip etc.) This may be difficult but we need to sort out who we can take to make sure we have enough staff.
Vulnerable children – we will contact you if we think your child is in this group.
Key Workers
